KB, also known as Kevin Burgess, is a celebrated Christian hip-hop artist and leader in the genre. Signed to Reach Records, he is renowned for blending intricate lyricism with faith-centered themes, addressing topics such as redemption, perseverance, and social justice. Known for his vibrant energy and cultural relevance, KB has released multiple acclaimed albums that inspire listeners through their powerful messages and artistic depth.
Key elements of the redesign included:
1. A visual representation of the themes of faith and struggle, central to KB’s music.
2. A neutral, grounded color palette that reflected the introspective nature of the album while aligning with the artist’s Christian themes.
2. A neutral, grounded color palette that reflected the introspective nature of the album while aligning with the artist’s Christian themes.
For this project, I reimagined one of KB’s music albums while staying true to his established themes and identity. My design process was deeply influenced by my own faith, Christianity, and personal connection to KB’s music, as I am a longtime listener. This project allowed me to express my beliefs through design while maintaining a neutral tone to ensure accessibility and broad appeal.
The redesigned album cover features a modern, cohesive visual identity that aligns with KB’s artistry. A standout element is the crown perched on a stool, symbolizing the humility and divine royalty central to his music. This was my favorite detail to create, as it encapsulates the balance between reverence and relatability that defines KB’s work.
To bring this vision to life, I utilized Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, meticulously crafting each element to match KB’s signature style. The final design showcases my ability to merge storytelling with design, staying faithful to the themes and emotions that resonate throughout KB’s discography. This project is particularly meaningful to me as it allowed me to merge my personal values with my creative expertise.
